Precision Geomatics have sponsored Patrick Thistle Amputee team’s tracksuits and given backing to the Amputee Football Association Scotland. Precision Geomatics are a supplier of Land Survey and setting out instrumentation throughout the UK and has chosen the AFAS as one of their charities that they will support. The company who have a history of contributing to “worthwhile” cause’s director Gwyneth Bell donated £500 to the charity and said that there were no second thoughts when he chose to support the AFAS.
She said: “I had no hesitation in offering to make a donation as I was in awe of the players who despite their disabilities were not willing to sit back and give up on their ambitions. It was easy decisions to help this group of wonderful people achieve their goals. I wish them all the very best and look forward to seeing them putting Scotland at the forefront of the game.”
She also praised Ashley Reid for her work with the AFAS and revealed how she found out about the charity. She said: “I first heard about the Scottish Amputee Football Association from a friend Gwen Mabon when we were enjoying our early morning swim at the Kelso pool. The charity sounded absolutely amazing, and I soon received more information from Ashley Reid who is working very hard to get the charity off the ground.”
Since the launch of the Amputee Football Association Scotland, there have many donations which include an anonymous donor who gave them £1,000 and McEwan Fraser Legal have stepped in to fund the team to go to Ireland in March to play in the next EAFA fixture.
Ashley Reid of AFAS added: “Which was fabulous. Gwyneth very kindly sponsored an entire kit of tracksuits but she also made an extremely generous donation of £500 to the charity after picking AFAS as one of the company’s charities of the year. This donation is particularly important to us given that the charity is so young and will undoubtedly go a huge way towards getting things off the ground in the New Year.”
