Writers need to have time out to rest from the creative process. I have four shows that I thoroughly enjoy watching to zone out from working.
Many of them I believe you would like to watch them too.
So, what you will find below are not my four favourite shows ; rather, they are the ones that make me forget about everything
Anyway… here they are.
Castle: 5 USA on Wednesday nights at 9pm
Castle is an American crime-comedy-drama television series. It primarily traces the lives of Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), a best-selling mystery novelist, and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), an NYPD homicide detective, as they solve various unusual crimes in New York City. This programme is filled with humour and it’s a typical crime show which I can’t get enough of.
Why you should watch this series: Anyone who likes crime shows like NCIS should watch this. As it’s different to it but the plots are interesting.
Death in Paradise: BBC Thursdays at 9pm
This tv series is quite funny and gets your brain spinning with the well thought out plots. It’s about a British detective Richard Poole (Ben Miller) who is assigned to investigate a murder on the fictional paradise island of Saint Marie in the Caribbean.
After he successfully finds the murderer, he is reluctantly required by his supervisors to stay on as the detective inspector of the island, solving new cases, and being the object of many fish-out-of-water jokes. At the start of Series 3, Poole is killed and London detective Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) arrives to investigate the death of his strait-laced predecessor. He then stays in the job as chief investigator on the island.
Why you should watch [this series]: It’s entertaining and well thought out. The show is now on Season 6 which isn’t a surprise at all due to viewing figures and quality of the episodes.
My pals have gone on about this show for a long time and since I got Netflix for Christmas that’s meant I have been able to watch it. I’m on Season 3 now and it’s certainly living up to the massive hypesurrounding the show which is popular across the globe. I’m quite far behind with series 7 coming out this year, so no spoilers please.
The focus of the show is to follow the talented college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) who initially works as a law associate for Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) despite never going to law school. The main mission is for Harvey and Mike to close cases, while still keeping Mike’s secret.
Why you should watch [this series] You should watch this show because Suits is funny, occasionally moving, smartly drawn out and cast, and it looks brilliant. If you long for TV to help you escape from stressful work, this is your fantasy made real.
Brooklyn Nine Nine: E4
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American police sitcom that follows a team of detectives and a newly appointed captain in the 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn.
It’s not your typical police sitcom as it’s a comedy and you always get a great laugh in every episode. This is a perfect show to sit down on the couch to watch if you’re feeling down.
Why you should watch [this series] You should watch this show because it’s led by the effective pairing of Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a charming, intelligently written take on the cop show format.
